Question about the stripe on the side of my car

Has anyone taken the stripe off the sides of their car? I have a '96 GXE in Cypress pearl with a beige stripe on the sides. I've read of people taking the Maxima lettering off, and I was just wondering if anyone has successfully taken the stripes off.

Yea you can just peel them off and then use a clay bar, goo gone or laquer thinner/prep sol to clean the remaining residue off. Doing it in the hot sun or heated up helps. I took mine off cause i think pinstripes are tacky and they will fade after a few years.

i took mine off my 95 gle.. i hated them.. first thing id do if i were you is know for a fact if the car was ever hit before. im saying this because if theres body work and the car has peices repainted, depending on where the hit was you stand a chance of having a paint line down the side of your car after u remove the pin stripe. most shops will end the new layer of paint there if the work was done say on your lower doors or fender. secondly, look close at the pinstripe, if the edges are kind of cracked or cracking from being in the sun all these years, invest in a heat gun or you will be there for hours. every time you get a corner up from the stripe and start pulling it off it will break at the next crack on the stripe. it took me a few hours to do mine but well worth the time. i think i just used rubbing alchol to clean off any glue..

Yeah. It's a pain in the a** but well worth it. It all depends on the condition of the stripe. Make sure you have some finger nails and some free time.

The stripe on my car kept breaking every inch or so.

body man

do not attempt to use razors on these pin strip because u are takin the risk of damagin ur paint...what u should do it go tot he end of the pin strip and jus try to peel it off as slowly as you could..

I took mine off a couple weeks ago because they were starting
to fade a little and I wanted a change.
Its easier after the car is in the sun for awhile.
I used Goof-off to get the rest of the adhesive off.
I did all this before I clayed, polished, glazed, and waxed my car.
Came out nice.
