Carbon Fiber Hood???
aite, so here's the thing... some of you guys might have remember reading my post about how my dad f*cked up my car a couple days ago... today my dad says he's going to replace all the parts that were damaged including the hood of the car. so my question is: where could i get a good quality carbon fiber hood a.s.a.p. and how much would it cost? if it costs less than the stock factory hood, then i could probably convince my dad into getting the carbon fiber hood. thanx in advance!

Sure a CF hood might save a few pounds on your car, but remember the stock hood is an integral part of the Maxima's crash safety system. The hood is designed to buckle at the "crumple zones" to absorb impact energy during a collision. A CF hood does not have these crumple zones, and may shatter upon impact, or even worse, crash through your windsheld!
So think carefully whether you really want this modification. If you do buy it, realize you may be compromising your crash safety.

nice point. unfortunately, i'm sure some of the people on here aren't worried about safety enough to buckle their seatbelt, let alone "crumple zones" on their hood.
i believe it still is $450 though. good luck on the buy, you'll have me jealous if u do at least

another disadvantage to having a CF hood is no window washer sprayers. It doesnt come with holes in the hood to attach the sprayers or hoses to. I went ahead and removed the entire reservoir from under my hood to lighten up the car even more... since i wasnt going to be able to use it anyway.
Also, i still dont have anything to prop up my hood. I have to have someone hold it up for me every time i want to get under there. Im actually kinda scared to take it to a mechanic because i dont have a hood prop yet. I think i may remove my hood if i do ever have to put my car in the shop ...maybe just put my stock hood back on while somebody is working on it.
Dont get me wrong though.. i love my hood and i am very pleased with it. I knew of these drawbacks before i ever purchased it. These are just a few things to think about before you make your decision on whether or not to purchase one. Hope this helps.
