My max is having an identity crisis. The vin # says GLE. The hub caps imply GXE. The Bose system says GLE/SE. The cloth seats say GXE/SE. The black guages say GXE/GLE. Its an auto so I guess that doesnt help. What is my car? Is is from canada?

unless maybe when the car was at the dealership as a GLE, they changed the seats and wheels for some reason. Maybe another customer somehow bribed them for leather in their gxe and another customer wanted alloys or something and your car ended up being the dealerships pick-a-part car

 

I think the vin plate says it all.

I had a max 3rd gen once and it was a FLOATER it was an se, but didn't have a sunroof, and had electric seats.

I think you have the wrong info on your vin. In '95, the Maxima had the Bose as an option on the GXE. I doubt someone would go to the extent of replacing the seats, climate control, and wheels. The Comfort and Convience Pkg included power drivers seat, cruise control, intermitent wipers, etc.

 

you sound just like my boy mike, his is a gxe car body,se mods,gle climate controls!! your both mutts!!

 

all options were available on all models in 95. So you could have a GXE that could have some of the GLE options. White face gauges were not an option as it was standard on SE only.

 

My car was stolen originally, so I have SE Engine + Frame, GLE doors, hood, trunk, interior, bumpers, and BOSE system. When Nissan runs my Vin and sees SE and then they see chrome trim they are stunned...hehe

Sounds like a GXE to me.

 

Not a salvage title...Im the 2nd owner and my dad was the first. It also has power drivers seat. I think its a GXE, but why does the VIN say its a GLE?

Hey be happy that you have a valid VIN number. According to Nissan, a car with my VIN # doesn't even exist... they claim they never made a Maxima with my VIN

It's very likely the dealer may have swapped some interior parts w/ another max to please a customer. Trust me, I work for one. I once had to swap a complete suspension from one LS430 to another because the cust. didn't want sport suspension. I'm talkin struts, swaybars, srings, control arms, the works. So seats are nothing.

 

My car is a SE, and everything about it is a SE (Suspension, styling, gauges, wheels) and my vin says GLE, the two insurance companies I had listed it as a GLE.
