SLOW starts on my automatic...help?
SLOW starts on my automatic...help?
Fellas, can anybody shed some intuition on my 97 SE automatic? I've noticed lately that when I am stopped in DRIVE with my foot on the brake, then let go, the car barely responds immediately and moves forward (maybe 3mph). When it was new, I would let off and it would respond quickly and idle run at about 6-8 mph. There is no rough idling or stalling, just a slllooowww start. Have 67k...is this because it's old?
Re: SLOW starts on my automatic...help?
maybe your throttle cable needs adjustment. i may be a little loose, the air filter is a good idea. when was the last time you changed your fuel filter and plugs?
Had the 60K (or $585) serives done at 60k on the dot, but to no avail! Gosh, how do I know they didn't do a half a$$ job? Anyway, well I cleaned my cone filter and I'll change the fuel filter this weekend and the throttle cables....I let you know if it works. Thankss for the input...

Perhaps your transmission is not downshifting to 1st gear during a quick stop. Are you completely stopping, allowing the transmission to shift into 1st gear, then taking off, or only slowing to about 2 mph and then taking off?
