SLOW starts on my automatic...help?

Fellas, can anybody shed some intuition on my 97 SE automatic? I've noticed lately that when I am stopped in DRIVE with my foot on the brake, then let go, the car barely responds immediately and moves forward (maybe 3mph). When it was new, I would let off and it would respond quickly and idle run at about 6-8 mph. There is no rough idling or stalling, just a slllooowww start. Have 67k...is this because it's old?

Maybe a dirty airfilter. Clean it and see what happens.

maybe your throttle cable needs adjustment. i may be a little loose, the air filter is a good idea. when was the last time you changed your fuel filter and plugs?

Perhaps your transmission is not downshifting to 1st gear during a quick stop. Are you completely stopping, allowing the transmission to shift into 1st gear, then taking off, or only slowing to about 2 mph and then taking off?

Yup, like i can stop at a stop light for 30 seconds, and then when i let off the brake, it barely moves...
