Ok,
Ihave acsess to tons of carbon fiber at a loooooow cost. So i was wondering if people here would be interested in a complete dash kit? Only 4th gens, because we will have to use my car to prototype it.
It will be made out of real, race car grade, carbon fiber, and have all 30 pieces and the bezel.
This would only be offered once, and you would have to commit by a certain date. The price would be probably 60 dollar for the whole thing plus a little shipping. So thats at least half what you wuld pay on ebay.
Again, this is just to see if anyone is interested.

 

any picture? I mean something similar to the one you are talking about, of course. I'm interested. And what is included for a complete dash kit?

 

Take a look on ebay automotive section and search for maxima dash and take a lookt here. I know theres a carbon fiber dash kit going on right now, its at 120 or somthing last time i looked. Id get the picture for you myself, except im doing HW.

 

This carbon fiber wouldn't be coming from a certain engineering college would it?

You already met my friend that goes to school with your brother i think. the guy i bought my car from put the factory nissan wood dash in and it loox pretty good so i think i am gonna keep it, i am definitley gonna try to get some other parts made out of CF.

yea, i remember when he sent you the foglights, how's your custom tv coming along. If the CF loox good on the dash i might just have to replace the wood.

The TV system is done. Got the dash inserts for it , so it looks pretty darn good.

hey nick i would want this, as long as the pieces you make or have made have a 3M backing or something comprable and cover the dash better than the other kits out there.. like the kit goes to the edges.. you gonna offer this for both manual and autos??

Good luck making it for less than $60. Do you know how much the materials are? How are you going to cut the 3M tape and carbon fiber? How are you going to combine the two? How much are you paying for the carbon? Do you know how much the 3M tape is? 30 pieces... $2 per piece. Is it worth it?

There's a reason that even the fake carbon kits sell for $100+. The real ones are more.

The big companies like Superior, Spectrum, etc. can only make the dash kits for around what you want to sell them for. If you can make it so cheap, why can't they? With millions of dollars in equipment. I just hope you're thinking this whole thing through before getting everyone's hopes up. I'm in the dash kit business, I know how much they cost to produce. Unless you plan on losing money, it's not gonna happen for $60-80.

 

Thats what it might happen, and if so only once. I have acsess to freeeee carbon fiber.
I dont know if we will be able to do autos. Ill let you know more in the coming weeks if itll all happen. Im not going to sell them if the one for my car looks like ****.
