I think waht Kashoggio meant to say was:

You really should "NOT" have to replace it and if you do this will cost you a nice amount.

I agree with this statement. If you know your chain needs to be replaced you will have to take your timing case cover off and do some nasty work. I suggest you buy a repair manual before attempting this job because if you screw up it could prove fatal{to your engine}.

I know that when you take off the case a lot of oil would come off i just want to look at it maybe look at the tension thing that hold the timeing chain down

Theres a few timing chain axcess{s?}covers that can be removed, maybe you can see what you want from there? One of the covers is located up and to the left of your idler pulley, there are 4 12mm bolts there, after you remove it the cover thingy you have to apply a new liquid/paste type of gasket/seal. Another thing you could do is to try taking of your oil cap and shining a light in there. You could also remove your valve cover, from there you should get a nice view. BTW why do you want to look at your chain?

why do you want/need to replace your chain? anyways, labor on replacing timing chain is 10+ hours. Its not an easy task and if your not pretty mechanically inclined i would leave this up to a shop.

Get a repair manual dude, you don't want to screw around with your timing chain! BTW the clicking noise is usualy from the valves clattering when they get older. My car makes a ticking noise for about 3 seconds after I start it in the morning.
