Arospeed Intake: Worth it?

Next week sometime I am planning to get an Arospeed intake (with K&N filter) to replace my stock airbox. The guy will do it for $50 installed with the adapter plate. He told me the CAI is not worth it because unless it really goes to the bottom of your can it is a waste. However, he said he could make me one if I wanted it for under $200. What should I go for? How much power will I actually gain with just the filter? How much with the full CAI?
Thanks,
Cyrus

what's the difference between the "bottom of the can" and inside the fender well? the guy who sells the arospeed intake recommends his intake because his distributor(arospeed) does not make a CAI for the max. rather than to lose business altogether, he'll tell you that a CAI doesn't make any difference. when he says he'll make one for you, he'll just take a few of the universal intake pipes(most likely two straight sections, one 45 degree bend, one 90 degree bend- maybe two, and a few rubber connectors. he probably won't want to drill into your fenderwell so he'll just make the pipes go down "to the bottom of the car" beside the battery in the engine bay beside your hot tranny. lets see, his cost on parts - about $100.

how do i know? my distributor(Top Speed) shares the same manufacturer in Taiwan as Arospeed. have a nice day.
