Want music in my car

I really need some music in my car, but dont know where to start. Basically the person I got it from had a huge subwoofer in the back and removed it prior to me getting the car, when I test drove it (with the sub installed) the radio worked. (its an alpine deck) Now for some reason it does not work. I took off everything to get down to the radio wiring and it looks like a mess of wires to me, I dont see anything obvious that would be unplugged or whatever, but the speakers do not work, when trying a CD, and the radio antenna does not come up when trying the radio. If I could just get one of the 2 to work I would be happy!!!!!!! Both would be awesome!!
Any ideas of what could have happened??

if its bose it could be that the wire from the harness meant to connect to the bose amp got disconnected..the previous guy could have used that as the remote turn on for his amp...if this is the case he may have disconnected tht wire when uninstalling the system...i had a similar issue like this in my car
