Ok, what's the name of this part? What does it do? And why the crap is it making a funny whirring sound? Also, around how much am I looking at spending on a new one?

Thanks in advance.

EVAP Canister Purge Volume Control Valve. IIRC it contols the amount of gas fumes that are "purged" back into the intake system from the fuel tank. No idea. No idea.

I think you can take it apart and clean it. See on the left side of your pic where the brown thing w/ 3 screws and a plug in is, you can take those scrwes out and clean in there...

From the fuel tank?? Could this be a reason why I'm running lean on the right bank?? I searched on here for the 0115 code that my CEL has been giving me the past week and I cleaned my MAF, used a whole bottle of injector cleaner ,or whatever it's called (Techron), in my gas tank and even checked all three coil packs with the ohm meter, all three of which are fine. None of it worked. My next move was to replace the O2 sensor, but if this has something to do with the fuel tank I think my problems may be solved. Thanks!!! Can anybody confirm what MadMaxSE-L says is true about this piece being related to the fuel system?

I tried to open those screws but every one I tried was super stuck on there and it was slipping so I stopped before they were completely stripped.

It's louder than the engine idling when I come to a stop at a light. At first I thought it was the power steering pump, like on those old Fords when they make that whirring noise, but when I popped the hood, it was definately coming from that thinga-ma-jig right there.

it does have something to do with the fuel tank, but more importantly it also has to do with vacuum........... If it has failed and is causing a vacuum leak............. well a vacuum leak is one of the very first things to suspect with a lean code..........

Sweet!!! Thanks, dude.

Is this a part I can get at any auto store or will I have to lube up and get butt-raped at the dealer? How much am I looking at approximately? Oh, and if anyone's got a part number, I'd appreciate it.

The answer to this question depends on which team you race for!

Sorry I couldn't resist this one.

This things gets hot when the engine warms up, so yes the screws are going to be tight. If you put your screwdriver down in the screw hole like you are going to try and turn the screw out, then tap the end of the screwdriver w/ a hammer that you would hold w/ you hand, it will probably loosen the screws. THat's how I did mine...

Thanks for the advice, guys. But if it's between $50-200, I'd rather just get a new one for the peace of mind. Now if it's $200+, then I'll have to go either one of those routes. I guess I'll stop by the dealer on Saturday to see what they're charging.
