Steering problem

My maxima seems to be pulling right when accellerating and left when braking. The other day my husband was driving the car home from work and after coming to a stop, when he went to take off with it, it wouldnt move forward and then finally jerked forward and he said one of the wheels started to feel wobbly.
I took it into a shop to be looked at, they said the axles are bad, so i had them replace both of them. This however did not fix the problem. While the steering wheel now feels tighter, it still pulls and now it feels like something needs balanced as the wheel shakes at around 65-70mph.
The shop told me they dont see anything wrong in there but they do feel the problem. He said the front end is tight. They also checked the clutch and said it was great. And it had been replaced not too long ago.
They did ask me though if the rack had come out when the clutch was replaced, and thats something I dont know, but they said the rack may need aligned and it would take 5 hours to do, but they want me to drive the car for a week first and then take it back to them.
I am at a loss on what this could possibly be thats causing it, anyone ever have a problem like this??

It is a 1995 SE 5spd.

Did they not check for simple obvious things first?? I would think they would check for a bad tire first, then move on to more complex things. The caliper could be sticking, but that would not make the wheel feel wobbly though. Sounds like you need to go somewhere that has a good reputation.
