Where is REAR Crank Position Sensor located?

I diagnosed that I need to replace my Rear Crank Position Sensor but have no idea where it is located.

If someone has a pic that would be very helpful.

Thank you

(ref ) crank position sensor is at the front of the engine near the crank pulley, the ( pos ) crank position sensor is at the rear of the engine, on the side of the aluminum pan section close to the trans. it reads the crank gaps. this is on the side of the engine close to the radiator.

The reason I say I need the REAR is because I just replaced the REF Crank Sensor less than a year ago, so I assume that it must be the other one since Crank Sensor came up during a scan.

Here is a pic of the sensor, it is refered as REAR? Is this the same as POS?

That's definitely the rear crank sensor. The long tip will read the 360 timing gear teeth on the flywheel. Connector is downward, as I recall... It's an easy swap.

Thanks for replying. Would you by chance have a pic of where it is since I am not sure where exactly it is?

It's on the drivers side of the crossmember, right behind the drivers side cooling fan. It's sandwiched betwen the engine and transmission bellhousing. If you know where the O2 sesnor is in that area, it's really close. I will see if I can get a pic later.

So you're replacing it because you got a code for it? That's a great idea! because the sensor can't be tested, and a bad sensor is the only reason that code will come up.
Oh and there are two different codes for the two different crank sensors.

the only teeth i know of on the flywheel are the ones with starter gears engages? if so does that mean running bad start for so long that knackerthe teeth o nthe flywheel mean it may be having trouble reading the position ?

EDIT: The flywheel has a second set of teeth just for timing/position sensor.

I've recently discovered mine was unplugged for who knows how long. Never threw any codes. Will I notice anything once plugged back in?
