Exedy OEM or 5th Gen Clutch setup?

My Power mods are: 00vi, JWT ECU, Y-Pipe Back.

My question is whether I should go with the Exedy OEM from importrp for $140 shipped or the 5th gen setup for $200 shipped.

Here is another link for the Exedy from ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EXEDY...7789QQtcZphoto

I ask because the exedy is listed as compatible with 00-01 maxima. Therefore, does this mean it has the same specs as a 5th gen setup or 4th gen?

What would be recommended? Or even maybe a Exedy stage 1, or is that unecessary?

IIRC, the 5th gen OEM is exedy equipment.

Honestly I'd just get a 5th gen setup from Dave B...great guy, great prices, and can't really lose with OEM (I don't think he'll even sell that Key Value crap to an org member).

yah.. I have the key calue crap in right now.. not coool at all

So what exactly would be the difference btw OEM 5th gen and OEM Exedy ? If they are the same kits, I guess the price jackup on the OEM from Nissan is due to the stealership effect ?

If I were you I'd get the 5th gen clutch, if not something a bit stronger. Depending on how you drive you might want something that can take more abuse...? IMO, stay away from the exedy on ebay. 200 is not expensive for a clutch, so at the very least get some genuine nissan parts....

I have y pipe back, UDP, lightweight flywheel and CAI. I just ordered a fidanza full kevlar 4 puck clutch.

I went with the kevlar since it can take craploads of abuse, will hold more than stock, and is still very streetable. Its not cheap tho...

just my thoughts!

I got a Luk clutch kit and it seems to be nice. My friend works at a speed shop and said they are awesome.

If it's that aggressive, your tranny will hate you. There have been a lot of reports, stating that aggressive clutches will more than likely cause damage to our transmissions. (3rd gear blowout)

Only the AE clutch is made by exedy...
I think regular 5th gen is NISSAN

So any ideas on whether the specs are the same with the Exedy / 5th gen setup ?

If so , it would make a lot of sense to just get the exedy for $60-70 less.

I had a stock Luk clutch on my slightly modded Accord... ragged on it daily, chirped 2nd like nobody's business... it was like new when I pulled it out a year after putting it in (motor grenaded). They make good stuff.

Exedy is good business though, but I would go for the stronger clutch. U basically have a 5th gen motor now, might as well get the 5th gen clutch.

Do OEM 5.5 gen clutches work for us? I'm guessing no?

AE clutch has a different part number than the regular 5th gen.

And 5.5gen won't work

I had the 01 AE clutch setup in my car before. Took all the abuse i could throw at it and held up good. Even tracked it a couple of times and it handled it fine. Id definaltey consider it again, considering my power mods, ive even heard a couple of the SC guys running the 5th gen clutch setup with no initial problems.

and yes running to strong of a clutch WILL cause tranny issues if you beat the hell out of it. These trannys are fragile as is lol..
