my car just died on my today exactly the same symptoms, i think in my case its the starter so im going to get a new one see if that fixes the problem.

Any ideas what's wrong,after doing engine and manual swap to maxima car wont start RPM's go to 3000 and then it dies. Sometimes it stays few seconds under 1000rpm and then dies. Diagnose cable told knock sensor was bad,replaced it and now it doesnt tell any codes. Engine light though keeps blinking.

i just bought a 97 se for 600 bucks and the guy said that the ecu was bad but i want to make sure thats true before i go and spend the money on one and not need it, when i put the key in(already made sure the battery was good) i can turn the key and i have NO lights, no chimes, no clicks nothing absolute silence, what would be my first course of action? im going out tomorrow to check the ground cable coming from the battery, but would that cable being messed up make me lose complete power?
