Lower Oil Pan Removal

All -
My dear old 1996 Maxima (GLE) has developed a leak in the lower oil pan (I have verified this - it's not the upper ) So... How do I get the lower oil pan off? I know it's an RTV seal which at this point may as well be glue. How does one get the pan off?

Thanks in advance for any ideas -

PS - there is also a very slight leak at the OPS so I'm going to do that at the same time.

I used a putty knife to gently break the RTV seal in a few places then it just popped off.

Thanks - I got it off then spent the better part of an hour getting it all cleaned up (engine part and pan) for the re-seal.

Thanks again -

You sure it wasn't the oil pressure sending unit? In any case, the process of removal usually bends the lower pan slightly. I'd flip it upside down, place it on a block of wood and hammer the edge of the pan until it's straight again. Or as straight as you can get it...

That not only makes for posts that make no sense, it's also dangerous.
