alternator problem ?

alternator problem ?

ok so im driving my lights went off then the radio and the battery light went on, the gages went darker. the battery and the e brake light were on even tho the ebrake wasn't on. then the car shut off . can it be the alternator belt ? because in the afternoon it made some weird noise and smell . witch one is the alternator belt and how to check whats going on ? or is it the alternator HELP!!

IT IS the alternator by the description you provided. Replace it according to motorvade instructions to save you some money...

Also you might want to check/replace the main drive belt while you are there

Left side of the engine. Find the belt and see if it's still on there, by what you said it sounds like the belt went.

it takes like 2 minutes to take the wheel off with the engine cover and 1 more minute to check the belt - after that if you are not satisfied then tighten the belt and get your alternator checked for free

same thing happened to me last month... my car (120,000 miles) died and when i tried to jump it, smoke was coming out of the alternator and the car wouldnt start. cost me $300 to replace it. now runs fine.

same thing happened to me, but to let u guys no, NIssan has a recall on the alternators. U guys should check it out, Too bad for me, I already replaced mine

Alternator Installation

Hello everyone, I bought a used alternator from ebay that was tested and works fine and I was wondering if I could install it myself so i can save some $$ because I aint got $$$ . I am not a mechanic but im not stupid, i know a lot bout my car so if anyone has like instructions, I would really appreciate. You can send them to my email at bhajal@hotmail.com , thanks a lot
