Sounds when turning steering wheel..

When ever I turn the steering wheel left or right quickly there's a thunk thunk noise as if something's loose. It also almost feels as though the steering is a bit loose. When I drive over bumps there's the same loose sound. Not axels..I have like new raxles on there..noise was there before them too. Any ideas?

It might be your strut mount/bearing on that side. Ever changed it?

No curbs, don't know about ball joints..I can hear this noise when the car is just on and I move steering wheel back in forth while NOT driving. Doesn't sound like strut...maybe tie rods? I haven't had an alignment in 4 years, maybe something's loose with steering? I definately know it has something to do with steering...

if your strut mount and bearing are busted it will make a clunking noise even when the car is not moving. It happened to me. My spring was "winding up" while moving the wheel

commonly happens when people lower with springs and KYB GR2 shocks...
repairing it costs the price to take out the shock pretty much.. I got all four done for 80$=60$(work) + 20$(tip) at my regular long-time mechanic.

This is one thing you really should get from the dealer( the bearing not the whole mount just the bearing it costs i think like 12-16$). The KYB replacements have been known to go bad specially on lowered cars. (like mine) and also if you have low springs and GR2... Change the shocks.. its best to do everything at one time as the fee will be pretty much the fee for replacing the shock.

Anybody know if someone is still selling those rear mount extensions?

Please PM me if you have the user name or anything of that nature so i can contact said person.

Yep same problem here and its a strut bearing, dont dish out the work. If you've got tools just do it yourself, shouldnt take long.

If I order new struts and springs, does the bearing come with them? ( My rear right strut is blown...car acts like it's on water)

usually not......and besides, the ONLY replacement strut mounts & bearings that you wanna use are the OEM NISSAN ones.
