Motor mounts

how do i tell if my mounts are bad.
my car is a manual and when i let off the gas it seems to have excessive slop in the driveline. Also my backup lights dont work unless i push forward on the stick while in reverse.

and if i need new mounts what ones should i buy and where is there a how to on the inter web

thanks so much

Slop is a great way to describe it when a mount has expired. You can also visually check the front and rears. I bought polyurethane inserts from www.cattman.com. I spoke to Brian Catts directly to get the .org discount. It will take a little work to pop the old rubber mounts out and insert the new Poly's in.

As for the reverse light, that happened to me when I put a 2001 tranny into my 1997, but after a week it worked fine. I'm not sure what's up. The reverse position switch could be worn. It's an easy part to replace.
