2 relays - $6x2 $12
2 9004 socket - 8x2 16
12 gauge wire 30' 9.50
2 fuse holders 2x3.5 7
some connectors 8
$52
+tax 13% $60
+ 2 9007 Xtravision $28+tax = 31.64 +60 = $92
so this is about a $100 upgrade from what i priced out unlessi buy the harness from Jegs

btw: to the other guys, you do not need a new harness for the 9007's. Switching the high and low beams wires will make the 9007 lights work but there is no point because the harness is supposed to be made to draw power from the battery for better light output. Using 9007 on stock harness won't give better light. You might think it does but they are still drawing the same power really. Yeah maybe 5w difference. Do a harness.

im interested on how you did your connection, i heard that without any relays you can damage your headlight switch, dont know how true that is but i really dont want to take that chance. the sticky here on the org takes you to a diiferent thread and the on on vqpower doesnt show any relay connections. so let me know if theres a write up on how you did it, if not can you post something?

I honestly don't think it'll do any harm to anything by going from 9004's to 9007's without an upgraded harness. The wattage increase is only 10w on the high beams which isn't a whole lot. If you ran some 90w/100w bulbs you'd definitely run the risk of frying/melting something though.
You will, however, get much better light output by installing a harness along with your 9007's, and I really think you actually kinda need one to get the full benefit of running the 9007's. I definitely saw this with mine. I had originally just installed the 9007's without the harness. The light pattern was better on both the low and high beams, but was no brighter. As soon as I got the harnesses done and installed, I turned the lights on and could immediately tell they were brighter.
For the harness, I think I'd go with what maximacruizer posted. I think I spent almost that much on my harness and I still had to make it!
I actually made mine with 4 relays for some reason. I used one relay for each of the low and high beams. Benefits of this? I dunno, I think it was probably just overkill
No pics of my set-up because 1. Wiring still needs to be cleaned up, and 2. I rear-ended a taxi in heavy traffic recently, so there's some unsightly duct tape holding my grill in place, and keeping my headlights aimed. Aside from my hood being bent up a bit on the driver side, you can't tell from the outside that I hit someone.
As for bulbs, I used the GE Nighthawks and they work great. A nice cheap alternative the the Silverstars that everyone raves about, yet seem to burn out rather quickly.

I did this conversion and would highly recommend against it. It's like putting HID's in stock housing. There's so much stray light. I'm sure I'm blinding the cars in front of me, including oncoming traffic as well as cars I'm following. Even after adjusting the headlights using "foglight" guidelines, there's still extra light that shines upwards. I'm gonna switch back to 9004 but retain my custom wiring harness.

I've had none such problems with mine. They're brighter, but most definitely not as bad as HID's in the oem housings.

How can the beam pattern not change? The original housing's made for 9004. Are you telling me your 9004 bulbs are exactly the same as 9007 except the 9007's higher wattage?

On the topic of the 9007's, I highly doubt they're an annoyance to anyone. I've had friends driving in front of me, at me, behind me, beside me, below me, above me, around me, and even with me. No one has said a thing about my lights being any kind of annoyance.
What year is your car? (95/96 frosted lenses, or the 97-99 diamond cut?)

haha are you telling me that you messed up your running lights and didn't fix them? You know you need them on to be legal right? You can't just have headlights only...

Just because I know people are gonna come in here yelling we don't have DRL's, the Canadian maximas came with daytime running lights (per Canadian DOT, I imagine).

I AM CANADIAN!! so my car has them don't tell me they don't if you plan on it... anyways so ya after i hooked it up i don't have DRL's anymore!! before the only way to bypass DRL was to pull the E-Break 1 click then start the car. but if i released the E-break it would turn them back on. I took my car out for a spin last night with the x-travision 9007's and i love it especially cuz i wired the high beams to the low beams nice and bright and no glare and i can see my beam pattern everywhere i go !!! even over top of street lights I love it!!!

Also, as the thread already discussed, stock 4th gen housing is inappropriate for HID conversion. You'll hafta get creative with projector modding to make it work safely.

I didn't use the switched ground harness that the website notes. You can buy all the parts you need at an autopart store, except maybe not the male harness that plugs into your existing harness.

and ur left with 3 prongs
and 3 wires pull the prongs out then drill 2 holes just above where the prongs go thru and put a wire thru that new hole and attach to prong then re insert prong and fill with hot glue on both sides. not to much on the site that the original bulb connector has to plug into tho.. just enough to hold prongs in position
thats what i did for mine wire don't have to be thick its just the trigger wire for the relay anyways high and low beam don't worry bout the gound leave that prong out
