ok, new knock sensor and oil change. so, i thought i heard an extended whining and or gurgling noise after i started her up when i was leaving work. only while in park, and it stopped after a minute. really strange, but would a fuel pump do this or is it something else??? car ran fine on the way home, its a 95 gle and has 170,000. thoughts>?????

 

Has it done it since? Any CELs? If it was a short one time occurrence, I wouldn't worry about it.

 

I dunno bro, my max did that last year as soon as it got below 50*. I haveb;t noticed it doing that "P", but when i got into D, i get pretty lound whining noise that settles down with the rpm.

lol, apparently, pmohr is just a newbie, don't listen to him!

 

check your power steering fluid, that will cause it to whine, if its just alittle low it will whine at low rpms but you won't be able to tell in your steering until its completely dry, so i would check that just to be sure b4 putting lots of money into it,

i have that slight whine too, only on cold startup, i dont worry about it.

BTW the fuel pump in under the rear seat - is that where the noise is coming from?

i think its the power steering fluid pump, bu its ok until it breaks hehehe

 

my whine is either behind the dash, or it could very well be the PS pump

 

hows your ps fluid? add some and that will stop it if not and you need one i have a rack and pinion out of a 99 ill sell you

 

will a rack out of a 99 fit a 95??? i think its ok for now but just curious. how much to replace the rack plus labor??? thanks in advance
