What should i do with my headlight for under $100.

My buddy told me to get the ebay HID conversion. It looks goo on his civic and works great.

Anyone know about it??

Or should i get PIAA bulbs??

Same price,,,

I have crappy blue bulbs which look cool but hardly do anything for the roads.

What do you recommend?

Please, if you're going to get HIDs, do it right and retrofit.

Seriously, just do a 9007 conversion, get some 9007 Xtravisions and call it a day. Do NOT get HIDs that can be had for under $100 shipped.

There's a definitive guide/sticky to everything HID and retrofits in the 5th gen forum. It applies to our car, and you'll thank yourself for taking the time to check it out. I would post the link ....but the .org is acting funny =/

I can't agree with this more.

When I was looking for better lighting, I didn't want to shell out money for a retrofit (mine, with kit and harness, cost me $710). But after doing so, dude, I don't know what to tell you. The lighting is OUT OF THIS WORLD. I can see things I never saw before at night.

If you don't want to do it right, then get some good Sylvania Xtra bulbs.

The color of the HIDs on your buddies Civic might look good, but HIDs in a reflective housing give off horrible output. The light is uncontrolled and scattered. Those ebay kits also use cheap parts and the bulbs will not last long.
If your looking for a cheap solution, do as MorpheusZero suggested.
The 9004 bulbs have horrible output and any bulb you use will not make it any better. Back in the day I experimented with so many different bulbs, and finally just went the 9007 route. Sooooo much better.

We all know that a retrofit is the best way to go, BUT he had originally asked...

A retrofit is well above the 100.00 mark.

A 9007 conversion will cost all of $25 and will require the use of a file , wire cutters and splicers, taking maybe 20 minutes. It won't hold a candle to a retrofit, output or cost-wise. Do it.

not to thread jack, but where do most of you source your projectors, i need bi-xenons as i do a lot of highway driving and having just low beams is not an option. HIDplanet sells their kit for i think 600 which is a little on the expensive side for me.

Do you guys just wait for ebay specials or does someone have a decently priced source for them

Ebay has a good source, HIDplanet, theretrofitsource, etc.
Just an FYI, low beams with HID projectors is extremly bright and in my opinion you can get by with just them but to each there own.
Any retrofit is going to be a but$$ once its all said and done. You could source all the parts your self vs. buying a kit and save some money but dont expect to get everything for really cheap.

I picked up some TLs, Osram D2S and Hella gen IIIs off egay for about $500.

HID projector low beams are awesome, however, high beams are just that much better. Take it from me.

Also helps whenever you're trying to flash someone. Having TL highbeams is a bit like having a freight train horn in signaling people. I've had friends who are ahead of me (100ft+) pull over and slink behind me because I'd **** around and strobe them with the high beams--it's blinding.

good points, i was originally looking into just an HID kit without projectors but my buddy has the 6000k on his sentra and it looks absolutely terrible with the amount of light scattering the reflectors cause, not to mention when he drives behind me i can't look in the rear view without being blinded. I'll check out theretrofitsource and see what the have

Are the Cifero headlights sold on rapidcustoms.com not HID? I'm thinking about leaning toward the bi-xenon retrofit myself....

That's basicaly what I was asking, is H4 HID? I have no clue...I learned everything I know about HID in the past 20 hours or so...BUT, to answer the original posters ? I will tell you what I have now decided to do with my headlights, as that is also the current mod I am on....I will be purchasing the Cifero lights from RapidCustoms & using it as is whilst I save the money to buy a HID...thingy to install into the headlight as the Cifero's require NO modding to fit a HID...dammit...round bulb thing into it...the hole made for the H4 is already big enough & I won't have to put my headlights into an oven & paint them to make them black on th inside...

H4 is halogen, but you can buy H4 HID kits. They use a rebased bulb to fit the H4 socket.
Good luck with those Cefiros, Ive never liked the look of there fitment on Maximas.

I posted a link on another thread to the...I think 'R34' headlights & the only response I got from anyone I think was they made fun of the terrible photoshopping done in the pic advertising the lights...

On the R34s isn't there a high-beam bulb you get to keep next to the HID? Is there room for 2 bi-xenon HID ballasts?

Please do not put hid's in your stock housings, i saw a 4th gen last night with some 9000k hid's and the light was not concentrated at all, just scattered around and blue. Looked like crap.

I have HID';s in my stock 4th gen housing.

I dunno...

no one seems to be complaining about me blinding them, and iam extremely happy with the lighting on the road.

Seems concentrated.

or its just me.
