auto tranny is going out?

Something weird happened today when I was accelerating to merge with traffic on the freeway today. I was going about 35 on the on ramp and I noticed there were a buncha big trucks coming up behind me, so I applied wide open throttle while my tranny was in D and my car downshifted to 1st, but then it didn't shift to second until after my car ran all the way up to 6,800 rpm. It made a big thud and jolted slightly. I found this rather awkward since it usually shifts around 6,000 rpm. Any one have any ideas as to why this happened? Has this happened to anyone else before? Is it something I should worry about? I just recently had my transmission fluid flushed. Thanks in advance for your posts.

run the auto transmission diagnostic and see if it's electrical. If it is, most likely a code will come up. If it's mechanical, no codes will show.

I dunno, if I floor it, my car shifts at redline ~6500 RPM in 1st and 2nd gear. 3rd, it shifts at around 6000 RPM at WOT.

i am thinking of having nissan give me a new tranny under my warranty of 60K, because i have been driving rough the past year and now i cant with rims, bags, and heavy stereo..

my problem is that my car shifts real hard and slips from 2-3, it's really annoying, but nothing i can do i guess but pay the 75$ diagnostic to nissan to see if it is the tranny itself, and have them replace it..

i am weary of taking it to nissan because sometimes those boys like to throw on additional charges.. and tell me it's something else, or whatever.. good luck
