problem with starting? help plz!!

today my car started up funny...when i turned the key u can hear it trying to turn over but it wouldn't start...i had to press the gas pedal a lil bit then it finally started after about 3 tries...now, it wont start at all...wont even crank......but there's a "wooooooo" sound that lasts for about 2-3 seconds whenever i turn the key to the "on" position (not cranking the engine)....i'm almost 100% sure it's not the starter because I know wat a bad starter sounds like cus i had to replace it about 40k miles ago.

my car currently has 137k miles and i just replaced the fuel filter about 3 wks ago...and has a fairly new battery (only about 7-8months old)

wat can this be? any help is appreciated...thanks!!

Like Enervin said, check the Fuel Pump. Pull the rear seat out and remove the fuel filter cover(3 bolts I believe) disconnect the fuel pumps electrical plug and check the resistance at the fuel pump. Search the forum for "Bad Fuel Pump" or "Fuel Pump Resistance" you should find more details about FP's. Good luck

i had the SAME exact problem...it turns out i needed a new knock sensor...and since i tried to start it up so much that it went to the "woooo" stage and i ended up needing a new starter
