What the heck is this connector for ?

After putting on some extra groudns today i found this loose for no reason, i searched for more than 30 minutes with a bright light and could not find where it connects to, the tape that held it to the bundle is GRAY which in NOT oem black.

the plastic slider piece looks a bit scratched up like as if it used to be connected i can see small wear on it, but there is NOTHING with its reach that it can be connected to, i cannot see any other empty conenctors WHAT IS IT?

Are, you sure the car is a GXE and not a SE. I would check the vin and I am assuming that the car is running with some electrical problems because I have that on my SE. I am sure it's likely a TCM or a BCM. I am leaning towards the transmission.

the electrical problem is my "!" and battery lights flash or come on randomly together, for the last 3 months, i never touched that cable, i never put the gray tape on it, everything works PERFECTLY just the lights come one for no reason not affecting anything

yes i am sure i have a gxe, i did check the vin, i have the chrome door handles and the window trim, i have the black gauges, i have cloth seats so its not a GLE either

Well well well. I just went and checked (I have a '97 GXE as well) and lo and behold, I have the same mysterious connector.

It's held in by the same grey tape as well. My car does not have that electrical problem you have, so this connector is unrelated.

It'd be nice to get some input from other years/trims. I'd like to know what this plug is for.

It's for the front electric mount. The electric mount is only on the automatic SE and GLE

Haha which is exactly why I did it for you, I hate electrical problems and I'm glad I was able to help you out with yours.

that plug is for the front mount. i have it on 3 of my gle. its suppose to adjust the front mount hardness. don't think it does anthing cuz i unplug it and replaced with a regular cheap mount. and yes it comes plugged in on se and gle models with automatic only.

Yeah is for the front electronically controlled mount. I guess nissan didnt make vehicle model specific harnesses, so i guess there pretty much all the same.

good luck on the finding the problem!
