raced a crx... winner???

A crx pulls up beside me...he saw me driving pretty agressivly so I and gave me that look so I figured he wanted some. so I rev a bit before the light turns and it's on ... 1st gear I pull away like half a car... second gear he comes and gets me and starts passing me!! my buddy and I are like WTF! at the end of second my nose was at his door... on third gear, I finished about half a car lengh in front of him ... then we turned it off cuz I had to turn ... few days later I find out this guy is running a GSR engine with exaust and cai... He couldn't belive that my maxima was stock and was that fast!! heh never under estimate the max! or little CRXs for that matter!

hehe

those CRX's are slow. atleast all the ones around me. I've beat a couple "modified" ones in my stock 97 5spd. My car doesn't even get aknowledged by them until i beat them off the line when their not expecting it, then they try to race, lose and still have no respect for the maxima oh well

My friend has a 4door civic with a gsr and a turbo. It runs 11s. I don't think any Maxima can take him. Still his car is a civic and we have the size/luxury and the looks. I don't want my girls coming in no civic when I pick them up.

The CRX guy must not be that great of a driver. With a GSR engine he should be able to pull consistent mid-14's, low-mid-14's on a good day.

Haha CRX...

Well, those CRX have about 100hp engines, but with a GS-R engine swap it would be unbelievable fast.

I tryed to keep up with a GSR and had no chance. Those are some quick cars, especially if they are modded, which most are around here.

Hondas

There are quite a few modded Hondas around in Houston. I am having a little bit of fun with them in my new Toyota Tundra with the V8. It's kind of fun to have import efficiency with that size engine and vehicle. I can beat them and then drive over them.

on dead tires, my friend with a CRX w/ B16 (civic SI) runs 14.2s he only has an intake + cat-back exhaust.

Since we're talking about Hondas...

Let me share this little venture with you. A guy pulls up to me in a manual Integra (don't know which model). He had a mandrel-bend bomb, body kit, 18" wheels with WAY off camber, and a huge wing (I don't know what else). He nods to me, indicating he wants to go, and I by this time KNOW I am going to lose being an automatic. To my surprise, I jumped off the line by about 1/2 car on him, and I very slowly kept gaining and gaining until about 90MpH when he pulled off! I don't know what happened to him or what he had under the hood, but I NEVER thought I would beat even a stock Integra 5spd. What are those car's 0-60s? What can I say, the Maxima rules!

All this talk of what they "should" run is assuming the person knows how to drive, and more importantly, launch the car. I've raced 5th gen civic hatch backs at the track (within 100-150 lbs) of a 2G CRX, one guy ran 15.300 at like 95mph and the other ran a 14.57@95. Heck, I raced a 98 GSR with a Drag Gen 3 turbo kit (T3/T4) with slicks... he pulled a 2.30 60' ON SLICKS and ran a 14.45@100 mph... obviously he couldn't drive worth beans.

A fast car is useless if the doesn't have the driving skills to exploit the power of the car.

I still don't get it - he was a 5spd! And he had some guages in there too, but we all know those could just be oil temp and pressure. I am still surpised he didn't atleast jump ahead of me - even if he was all shownogo.

Maybe he was a bad driver... or maybe im just a really good driver
I got a good start and once in second gear he just starting passing me like if there was no tomorrow!! but once in third gear it was a different story.. I guess thats where the V6 engin has the advantage over the 4cyl... same with the start since those GSR(B16s) engins have to rev pretty hight to get to its power band...

then he must have been a really bad driver or his motor was run down ... the car itself looked run down... but he was fast...
I know someone with a GSR engine and runs low 13's with NOS and his car is in good condition...
