What is your gas Mileage?
Maxima's fuel tank is 18.5 galons
I like the fancy stories in this thread about mpg....and most of the heroic numbers are based on wrong calculations....like having 18 inch wheels and an inaccurate tio hell odometer
or counting the tank as 15 ot 16 galons
............I have a very hard time wondering a 12 or 13 years old maxima (even if marvelously maintained) can have a better mpg than a new maxi driving from the dealer in 1996 !

EPA averages are just that... averages and estimates. it says on the EPA info that each vehicle must be dealt with by a case to case basis and that your results will vary. so if it has an EPA of 27-28 highway.. how would 30mpg be such a stretch?
i love it how everyone in this forum just tries to find fault in others statements. i know what i am doing and thought i would share based on the topic of this thread. your post adds nothing to this thread except to show your inability to read what others write properly, or do simple math.

My '98 GLE, when I purchased it in 1998, was getting up to 34mpg on the highway using 89 octane. Well above the 29mpg highway that was advertised on the sticker. Most recently, I am getting 30.3mpg highway using 93 octane. So, while I am happy getting what I am getting, I am getting a little less while using more expensive fuel. And, yes, it is 12 years and 213k miles later. Over the past few months, I have been much better at performing maintenance on the car, since the economy is forcing me into keeping the car beyond what I would otherwise do. It's not quite as good as it used to be, but the driver isn't either.
Full 3.5 swap with 4AT
Premium Fuel
Never worse than 26MPG all city
As good as 31.8MPG
Averages 28-29MPG
Best range I achieved was a full 520 miles on a tank
I "unleash the beast" several times a week, not a granny driver!
One time I had a dead O2 sensor, could only get 14MPG. Fixed that right away!

I'm totally stock, and getting 20.7 MPG and I drive 80% highway / 20% city... this is the average of several $20 gas purchases. (which averaged out to 7.301 gallons @ $2.737 per gallon)...
I know a tune up would help get me up to 24 MPG, but my driving style probably won't let me get that much.

99 I30 103k miles. ~22 in the winter (mainly because I crank it to warm-up and go back in the house to fix coffee), ~26 in the summer doing mainly 80/20 city/highway.
Real world just now I'm showing 371.5 miles since the last fill-up...I'm almost on E but the light's not on yet. i'll fill-up again tomorrow & see.
not too bad...a heck of a lot better than my 425hp 06 Trailblazer SS!!!

I kept a spreadsheet of my mileage for years. It was always around 22 with about 50/50 highway/city; driving fairly aggresively.
Then last January it suddenly dropped to 17 mpg. That's a drop of about 80 miles per tank. No codes what so ever.
So far I've replaced the plugs, air filter, and fuel filter. Cleaned the MAF, EGR tube (PItA!)and replaced the 2 O2 sensors on the y-pipe. Then reset the ECU. No change at all.
I tried to listen and feel around for vacuum leaks but couldn't find any.
The only change in January was a new set of tires. But unless these tires weigh 5 times normal tires I can't see it making that much of a difference.
Anyone have any other suggestions?

My 99 SE-L just went on a major trip. I got 24-25 miles against the wind 80mph and 26-27 mpg with the wind. 2800 miles.
Im getting about 20-22 city and around 28-30 hwy. Before I replaced my O2 sensor i was getting 17mpg hwy and about the same for city. Im sure if I stayed at 100km/h on the hmy I would get about 32mpg. This car has great mpg for the power and age.
Last fill up was with 89 grade:
268.1 miles - 11.3 gallons - 23.72 MPG
Driving is a mix of mountain roads + town / small city driving.
No mods at all, Blown struts & 15in wheels
Mighty fine if I do say so.

I haven't had mine in the summer, but in the winter running 93 octane and 4 studded snows, I'm seeing 20-21 MPG with my lead foot.
I drive 60-70 miles per day, and around 50 miles of this is 45 - 50 MPH rural driving up and down hills. The rest is stop and go city stuff.
...oh, and it's bone stock. CEL came on for EGR flow, but went off after a couple hundred miles and hasn't been back...so that might be impacting it a bit too.
