What is your gas Mileage?
22/27 (22 is only short city trips, 25 is typical mixed driving, 29 was best ever)
1997 GLE Auto, stock wheels, K&N drop-in, 180k+ miles
Have always used 93 octane and Mobil1 10W30 full synthetic. Had a KS code for a year+ which didn't affect it, and run injector cleaner 1x/yr which seems to help.

I run premium (93), too...the manual calls for 91+ but says lower octane fuel can be used if nothing else is available. I don't notice a difference in responsiveness or fuel economy between the two, but the only CEL (EGR Flow) I've had came on a few hundred miles after I filled it with 87 and went off after a couple tanks of 93. Probably unrelated (I think), but with that many miles, I might as well baby it.
How hard is the Knock Sensor to change and can it be tested beforehand?
My 03 auto (97K) is getting about 25MPG on the trip computer which is about 4MPG high so about 21 combined. Cleaning the MAF sensor gained me 1-2MPG!

Full 3.5 swap with 4AT
Premium Fuel
Never worse than 26MPG all city
As good as 31.8MPG
Averages 28-29MPG
Best range I achieved was a full 520 miles on a tank
I "unleash the beast" several times a week, not a granny driver!
One time I had a dead O2 sensor, could only get 14MPG. Fixed that right away!

I used to average between 28 and 29, best of 31. 95 SE, Stock, 215k, MT, 50/50 highway/city. "Hyper-mile" techniques sometimes (upshifts to 5th asap, coasting, drafting, etc) but matting it plenty of others... 89 fuel & crap oil. No idea wtf you guys are talking about with all the letters (CEL? KS? ICV? TV? IAC?!?) so I definitely never cleaned or replaced any of that ****.
I get 26-27 now in my stock 99 I30 (79k). Cant do that hypermiler **** with the AT. (computer shifts, no coasting etc) Premium fuel, Mobil 1

was always curious to see what my real gas mileage was so i tested it last weekend:
96 5sp w/ 151K miles. just washed, ram air intake, headers + full exhaust, sawblades, CEL for evap leak. clean tb and iacv, dirty egr.
full tank 93 octane
mostly highway driving with some 60-100 pulls, cruising speed 70mph with rpms a hair under 3k. back road cruising rpms were around 2K. shifting at 3500 to 4000rpms between all gears. I also always downshift when slowing down.
435 miles driven / 16.114 gallons consumed = 26.99MPG.
hoping that cleaning my egr thats never been cleaned will net me 1 or 2 more mpg.
