Winters and Ice

Hey guys, so i was just driving to school and i lost control of my car and slid into the curb. There is nothing broken but my wheel is wobblin quite a bit. I think i bent my drivers control arm.
How much is this gonna cost to fix, where can i get a new one?

I got the left and right sides installed for $400, parts and labor. Didn't seem too difficult, if I had a lift and airtools I would have definitely done it myself. You should be able to buy it at any local parts chain, but it may be a special order item. Autozone stocks them for about $115 each.

It looks like im gonna have to take it to she shop and see whats wrong but i hate paying a mechanic for labor i could do on jack stands. I was suprised to see that i didnt pop a tire but bent the control arm. How often does this happen on these cars.

Easy to check the wheel. Could have bent a strut.

Lift the car and rotate the wheel. If it wobbles, you've got a bent wheel.

bent rim and tie rod are the two most likely things. I highly doubt you bent the control arm.

First thing I would do is bring it to a shop that can do wheel balances and alignments. That way when they put the wheel up for balancing, they can see if it is actually a balance problem or if the wheel is bent. Also, they can double check your alignment specs to see if it is still within range.

I slid into a curb last year going about 15 mph. When I brought it to get fixed, the mechanic wouldn't believe I was going anything under 40 to make that kind of damage I did to the control arm. so, it's easier to break than you make think. $500 too. Kills me to spend $500 to have a $150 part installed, but, I had to do it.
