was the engine warm?

did you disable the fusible link to kill the fuel supply?

any any oil to see how the compression built up?

the numbers seem a little too good...

What kind of guage did you use to get numbers that accurate, most guages are only marked in 10s or 20s.

i used the compression tester at my friends shop...
it was a really nice unit. (high quality) it was in two pieces... one went into where the plug goes and the other connects the gauge.
the engine was warm and i did pull the fuse to kill the fuel.
the turned each test 5 times. the gauge built up pressure quickly.
if you want i can get the maker and part # of the unit, let me know...

No, it's not a problem, I just was wondering how you got numbers like 176 instead of 175. BTW, stock is 185, min is 142, you are ok.

The gauge only measures max compression. You can crank it all day and you should get a similar reading. Your valves exhaust the pressure in the cylinder.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

The answer to your first question:Pretty much no, but I think Turbo95Max had some custom made.
Second Question1-2-3-4-5-6)165,170,160,175,165,170

Loss of ~8-10% is normal on compression. Once its broken in well, it will level off. The motor I bought with only 1900 miles on it had a 8-10 percent loss of compression (from the 185psi) when I tore it down. I don't have a clue what my compression is on my original motor, but

I should look just to find out what 110,000 miles, and some HARD races for the last 3 years will do to a Nissan VQ. I bet its not as low as you might think

Why 5, why 7, It takes 15 for my gauge to stop going up, so thats about where I stop. Then its a true peak psi.

That's how I've been taught to do it. If you have four cylinders, crank it 5 times. If you have 8 cyl, 9 times

Took me average between 9-11 cranks before the needle stops moving and it does change between each cylinder. Haynes manual recommends at least 7 compression strokes.
