Installing OEM CD Changer in the trunk

Here is a picture series for installing an OEM CD Changer for a 4th Gen.

I am sure that many of you have done this but here is my version:

Wow, I didn't realize that this was such an involved process. Wasn't it a dealer option?

You are right. This changer was installed in 2001. I took the pictures while removing it. Now a MonsterCable iCruze (iPod interface) took its place. The changer itself is posted on eBay. But some people like CDs. To each their own.

http://www.monstercable.com/icruze/s...fo_icruze1.asp

Here is how my dash look, a little ghetto:

The iCruze was installed behind the ash tray. The iPod connector is in the arm rest. The CD Changer buttons controls the iPod.

The Garmin StreetPilot 2610 has an antenna mounted above the mirror. The speaker and power come from a 2nd 12V socket mounted near the ECM. Avoid model SP2620 because it use a failure prong HDD while the SP2610 use flash cards. These GPS are relatively cheap today.

The Nokia CK-1W bluetooth handsfree box is mounted behind the right side kick panel. The mute line controls the Bose amp relay just behind it. So when a call comes in, the CK-1W cuts the Bose amp power. The mic is mounted on the mirror mount. The speaker is mounted on the right side kick panel. California outlawed talking on the phone while driving without a handsfree device beginning in 2008.

This car has all the gadgets they put in new cars.

Likely not. I've installed changers on 2 Infiniti i30s and a G20 and they never came with it. As of where to get it... ebay, junkyard, stealership.... it's either hard to find or expensive. I would have just ignored any changers selling w/o the cable.

To OP: why not under seat? It's much easier (I didn't even remove the glovebox) and more convenient.

FWIW, OP's post was 2 years ago, and he hasn't even signed in for a month.
