Options for BOSE Headunit??

Hey, My Bose headunit for my 99 max is a complete turd. It is the 3rd headunit I've put in, and I'm tired of replacing them! Does anyone know of a replacement headunit that will fit and that is newer and that doesn't require me changing out all of my speakers???
thanks in advance.

you can run just about any head unit with the stock speakers, but you will need a line level converter.

Have you tried a Pathfinder or 350Z radio? They are a direct fit, plug and play.

For the Pathfinder, You do have to jumper one wire in the harness and modify the brackets. (I assume you are talking about the Panasonic built unit from 05 on)

you just need to get the adapter to use the stock speakers.
here's
one from crutchfield.com

one head unit i recommend is the JVC KW-AVX800. it's the one i have
it does everything, but it's about $600.

otherwise you can just get any stereo (and a single DIN adapter if it's a regular sized one) and that adapter i mentioned before and it'll work.

hope that helps.

this one looks slick, has MP3 capability, & the seller knows his stuff:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=543643

he recently dropped the price. very reasonable. not bad at all if you want to keep it oem-like.

My mistake I should have mentioned that it was the 02 thru 04 radios that I was referring to.

Yes, its the Clarion name brand. I looked at an 02 Pathfinder and an 03 350Z. I chose the PF because it fit flush in the dash and the lights matched my clock. Whereas with the 350Z, the radio was maybe 1/8 in too big and the display was orange compared to my green clock face. Both have the in dash 6 pack CD changer and a little more wattage compared to the Max radio.

I went with an 05 Pathfinder unit. Yeah it's orange, but has RDS and MP3. Modified the bracket and it fits flush. Cheapest way for me to solve my display and CD ERR issue!

one would think that after all the posts on this topic that people would have learned that you CAN put in an aftermarket deck without changing all your speakers...LLC's arent a new phenomenon.

dont need a line level converter. run a power source to the Amp remote on the plug and enjoy the even louder output from your aftermarket unit.
