Need Help Door Step Light
Need Help Door Step Light
Hey guys i need some help with this one.
the other light my Passenger Door Step Light (...for people who don't follow the light that comes on the door when you open it) went out i thought blub blew out but when I went to put a different bulb in the same result No Light. Meanwhile my driver side light still came on and so does the Dome Light. I then thought a fuse burnt out but then realize that if a fuse did burn out the Dome Light and Driver Side would be out too, but it was still lit except passenger. So I went ahead and check all fuses in cabin and engine bay. But nothing was burnt out. And now I'm stumped and stupified. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!

Maybe the wiring harness came unplugged. Remove the little fixture and see if it's still plugged in.

Is there a chance that something is wrong with the push switch (on the door frame, nearby the door lock mechanism) for the door light?
On my old 86 Sentra it sometimes got stuck in the in-position, and I push and release it, it came out and lit the dome light.

Your door has a sensor that sends a signal to the BCM, the BCM then sends a signal back to the LCU on each door to turn on the step lamps. If only one door has a problem then I would suspect that the wiring may have a short or it could be the LCU itself. (Local Control Units). I had mines short out on me a couple of days ago installing a kick plate. I had to wire the step lamp directly by... by pass the LCU. Was not very happy.

I did look for the LCU but did not want to take the door apart looking for this. What I did (make sure you go out and get some fuses before you start) I think it is a 7.5 it’s the first fuse in the middle row of your fuse box. Take the pin switch out using your tester find the wire that closed the circuit by pushing on the pin switch to see if the tester light goes out. Once you find the wire (there is 3 of them I think it’s the top left wire) Run one wire to that wire (can remember the color) run it under the kick plate so its hidden I attached that wire to one of the wires on the step lamp and that was that! It fixed my problem.. I hit like 3 fuses before I got it right. There is only two wires on the step lamp so it not to hard, The hardest part was getting that one wire thought the door back into the car. I can check when I get home and tell you which wires it is…but I'm at work buy the time I get home you could have done what I said and get it working, if not let me know

OK. Un screws the pin switch. Unscrew the step lamp. There are 2 wires on the step lamp both are red so I’m not sure which one is the one that you have to tap into. There are 3 wires on the pin switch. There are 2 wire are left and right of each other one of these wires you will have to tap into on the pin switch. Place a long wire long enough to run from the door to the pin switch. With the step lamp out place one end of the wire on one of the wires on the step lamp, and attached the other end to one of the wires on the pin switch. Make sure you have some fuses on hand. When you get the lamp to light check to see if its attached to the right wire but pushing in the pin switch the lamp should go out… when you let it go it will come back on. Let me know if you get it.
