Looking good Andy. Make sure you take your time and don't rush through buttoning it up. Some people get anxious and rush the final steps. For you, it's going to be making sure the harness is in there and everything is wired up right. I want to hear about that thing running soon. I'm glad someone took it off my hands and will enjoy it.

It's been done several times, but your '98 max won't work, you have to use the '97 chassis because the sheet metal and subframes are different in the rear, the '97 maximas come pre-drilled for the skyline differential, driveshaft, and suspension mounting, it's pretty much plug and play though, but everyone else that did it had an entire donor car to use, it makes it much easier.

You also need the full wiring harnes along with the flex capacitor, also IIRC one member was able to re-use the maxima's exhaust bearing, but it required alot of welding and he also had to use a muffler with a tip diameter of a least 4 inches.

LOL this guys is a clown, don't pay attention.

The muffler tip diameter has to be at least 4.5"

But he ended up having MAJOR problems with his headlight fluid. IIRC.

Lets get the story straight.

I couldn't resist. Sorry...

Nice swap, BTW, good luck!!!

Dude.. Nissan sells a EGR plug for like 4 bucks.. It's from the DE-K motor.

Really.. I mean, I could understand if it was a 100.00 part or something.. God knows that I can be "creative" when I have to.. My post was FYI for everyone.. he probably didn't realize that you could buy a plug for a couple bucks from Nissan. Now you know..

motor swap is almost done. theres a connector on the 97 wireing harness i have to replace the one nissan said was no good that does not fit. its the connector to the long fuse box on the diver side. the original conector which is off a 99 wiring harnes had 6 wires and the new harnes and connector wont fit and also has 8 wires. would anyone know how i can splice the 99 male connector into 97 harness female connector. I posted up a question and pics in the all motor section. Some help with that would greatly be appriciated. but after that all i need is fluids and a clutch line that was accidentally ripped out. and to reprogram my key because i had to get a new ecu because nissan also told me that was fried too. so i'm close taking a little bit of time cause there are some extras but its almost done.

Im at about the same point you are on the swap and like Jonblz said get the pathfinder tb and the adapter from stephen max. I just got the adapter and its been so much easier than tryin to rig the tps to the stock one. Plus i got my pathy tb from car-part.com for 100 bucks so it wasnt bad. Good luck with getting everything buttoned up. I cant wait for mine

WTF This post makes no sense?

DBW > Cable driven. Because it means you have VTC. PFTB > Cable modified DBW, because it means you have cruise control.

You're probably going to have to get creative with a bracket that bolts in a couple places behind the TB on the bent section (elbow) that leads to the upper plenum. When I had the motor, I was going to TIG weld a plate to the elbow and bolt an OEM cable bracket to that. Wish I could help you out more.

oh and by the way if anyones wondering the swap is finished. I just have to get it to nissan now to get the new ecu reprogrammed so that i can fire it up. But since every penny I have has already gone into the swap Ive got to wait a few days for either my tax return or some other money to come in.

Swaps done guys! Its at nissan getting the new ecu programmed. I forgot one major thing though. I didnt mount the braket i have that holds the TB cable. I was going to do it to the firewall but them I read here that thats bad and the car will jerk real bad. So my question is where can I mount it? Should I weld it? Drill a small hole in the plenum maybe and bolt it in? Does anyone have any pictures of their setup? Thanks.

Not sure what you mean, anyhow, if the stock bracket is secured to the intake in a similar manner to this, then you will be fine. The cruise cable then will simply mount in the bracket. Just remember, this also holds your throttle cable. In my opinion, it is very important that these two cables be securely mounted for trouble free operation. The last thing you want is runaway acceleration due to the bracket moving or something.

I have a 98 max 5spd and I was thinking of swaping in a vq35 in it but was wondering if it will bolt up to the tranny and motor mounts and are there any other things I will have to change.

Running strong. just a few sensors out, egr codes because its deleted and an oil leak which i believe to be from maybe the OPS or the VCG. But thanks for everyones help. Sorry this is Super late. After the swap the car sat for MONTHS!

So how strong does it run Andy? With the port and polish I did on the intake and the cam degree advance, I'm curious on how it's doing in the car. You have to look me up next time you're in Columbus.
