Hood wont close

I changed my headlights today on my 95, and now my hood wouldn't close. It catches and keeps it from opening, but doesnt lock all the way. The hood release was also very stiff since I had the car. What can I do? what am I looking for? Thanks.

Have you checked the hood adjusters? Black things on either side of the radiator support, screw in and out to adjust hood level.

Beyond that, take out the headlights and see if that changes anything, take a look at the hood latch, slam it harder, etc.

check a couple of things. be sure the hood release handle is push back in all the way & that the release lever that the cable pulls moves freely at the hood latch. spray the whole latch assembly w/lubricant. also since you mentioned that the release has always been stiff/hard to pull, check for damage to the cable or if something has it pinched.

Dont mean to thread jack but is there a way to adjust the hood forward and back. My hood overhangs my passenger headlight and part of the grille and i was assuming it must be adjustable.

There is some amount of play if you loosen the bolts on the hinge.

I see, time to bust out the rusty wrenches. J/k i keep mine shiny with mag polish. I might have to take pics because when i went out and looked it appears to be perfectly aligned with the fender but more like the headlight is pushed back. Giving the hood the appearance of overlapping. I'll make a new thread, dont like threadjacking.

To the OP, my sis had a similar problem on her trans am. Turned out it was the hood release cable. Might have to replace it but it should be cheap.
