axle question

Hi,

I recently changed my clutch and also replaced the driver side axle when putting it all back I I noticed that the axle has a gap of about a 1/4 inch between the seal in the transmittion an the axle metal cup that goes over the seal. I dont remember it was like that before so I wanted to know if that was normal or if there is something wrong maybe the new axle is alittle to long because I tried bang it in there with a metal bar and a piece of wood but still nothing.

any input will be greatly appreciated.

PS. any local knowledgeable people that are willing to help let me know I have other little issues to fix. im in La Puente CA

thanks

If it's clicked in solidly, you're done.

That metal shield is just a dust shield. It should have some clearance and not touch anything. I don't recall if it's 1/4" exactly, but as long as the axle is snapped in and won't slide out you've got it right.

Dave is right, also it would likely leak if it were not in place all the way.
