-So even if the car is running slightly more rich at startup thats even more good reason for you to drive off slowly keeping the rpm below a certain chosen point
-yes the torque converter in an auto does not lock up when its cold. i dont know the reason for this, but i am hoping it did not do this on a brand new tranny, otherwise its a nissan design flaw
-and i never see white smoke out of the tailpipe when i start my car as that user suggests its water being burned off. there is not that much condensation inside the engine for it to create so much visible smoke. not unless your coolant is leaking into the oil

BTW i am reverting to a simpler point form from now on since some people on this site in general are incapable of neither reading nor constructing complete sentences effectively...

Ok, so yesterday...it was like 35F outside and I was kinda late for school so I started up my 97 GXE and drove it off without warming it up. I heard this really annoying screeching sound...that went away after the engine warmed up while I was driving. I think from now on, I'm gonna let the temp gauge at least hit the C mark before I drive off lol..

the auto trans in Maximas, are they a viscous converter clutch design or torque converter clutch design? If the former, the reason for the trans to lock out of top gear is to give the fluid time to warm up. If the latter, the lock up delay is due to the design of the apply/release scheme is intended for the ATF to be at normal operating temperature. Either way, the lock out is to give the fluid time to warm up to normal operating temps.

I was feeling left out since I don't know exactly what I did to contribute to man made global warming, so I started letting the maxima warm up in the mornings for around 5 minutes to donate my fair share of emissions.

I never ever warm my car up, just turn them on and drive them easy until they reach operating temp.

Done this w/both my VQ's, combined mileage of ~ 200k.

Global warming people, they say we will get little snow due to increased temps, and it freaking 5 deg F at night

back to OP, i remote strat my car right before i get out the door, so it warms up for about 3-5 minutes, drive under 2k rev 'till engine reaches normal operating temp.

I believe you are correct. When a vehicle is cold started, it runs very rich, due to the cooler air being drawn in. Once the engine is warmed up, the sensors detect warmer air drawn in and then begins to lean the a/f mixture to the factory tune. This is to help warm the engine to the correct operating temperature.

And I expected you to know 'anything', you’re pathetic, last night was – 3*F. That’s what you make me,

My altitude varies from 7500' - 11800 ', so, well if you only knew.
