HELP!! ECU broke?
HELP!! ECU broke?
I was attempting to install my greddy emanage today and could never get the car to turn over after installing it. I removed it and wired back all of the wires the way they were before and again could not start the car up. I decided to test the ecu just to make sure it was still good and went to use the diagnostig **** inside the ecu and it broke. Is my ecu now F*cked?
If you didn't damage anything on the PCB and you can get the diagnostic screw back to the normal mode, then it should be fine.
Did it operate fine before you attempted to install the (presumably) EB?
How were you going to 'test' the ECU with the diagnostic screw?

Yes it worked just fine before. I'm not sure how I was going to test it really.... I was kinda hopping that the CEL would come on and atleast let me know that it was functioning. I dont think I ever got as far as to be able to twist it. I pretty much put the little screw driver in there and BAM the thing just popped back.
I'm stumped at this point. I have all the wires back to normal and I have put the harness back on the ECU however I havnt put the bolt back in that holds the harness on. I'd like to avoid having it towed to the Dealership. Initially when I pulled the harness of the ECU I didnt disconnect the battery (cuz I'm stupid and forgot) is there a chance I fried it then? I just got off the phone with the nissan parts people and they said it was a little over $800 for a new ecu.

Ok well.... aftergoing threw the wiring one more time I believ I have fixed it. The car turns on now and drives normally. I bet the problem was that i didnt tighten the bolt down enough the 1st time.
That was a good enough scare for me to just bring the car in and let the pro's do it. I may try again tommorow though if I feel brave.
Thanks pmohr for your quick response. Your optimism kept me sane.

its the EB. No joke... no slack and it was hard to find the wires let alone tap into them and solder everything. Iunno I work from home again tommorow so maybe I'll give it another shot. When I rewired back to stock I added in some extra wire to give it more slack and to make my next attempt a bit easier.
Just take your time, take a good wire pinout, and label all the wires as you go along.
I wired in my EU and it was a real pain. I was surprised that car started when I was done.
