Starting issue- video inside

When I start my car, it just cranks and makes a noise like its pulling a lot of electricity (I cant explain it).

EDIT: I had the remote start installed AFTER this problem began.

When I use my remote start, it starts instantly with no problems.

Question: What is the difference between using the key and using the remote start. I'm assuming whatever is not being used in the remote start is whats causing my issue when using the key.

Could it be the ignition switch? Thank you.

I'm not talking about the squeek, thats just my belt. Thanks again!

could be the ignition switch, do you have any codes?
if it didnt start fine with the remote start than I'd say its the starter or a poor ground on the starter.

A few months back I had a code for "cam position sensor". I'm not 100% sure if the code had been there since this starting issue, mainly because I've had this problem for over 1 year now. The code was cleared a few months back, and never came back. It had shown after a mechanic continuously tried using the key and let it keep cranking- even though I had told him to just use the remote start.

here is a dumb question. do you step on the brake when starting your car normally?

Yes. I didn't think it mattered, does it? (thats a serious question too, not trying to be sarcastic with you)

The reason i ask is this. If your batt is weak, then starting adn stepping on the brake can give you a hard start. that would also explain why the remote start gives no problem since no lights are on (i think).

Its a brand new Optima battery. I'm hoping its a simple thing though, because I'm oblivious when it comes to mechanical issues.

Some people have mentioned a fuel problem, or a bad ground on the ignition switch.

doubt it is a bad ground since remote starters usually tap into the ignition switch right after the key (depending on install). had a tuneup lately? plugs? fuel filter?air filter? none of those would explain the difference in performance though.

very good thinking 2da mizzax, the power drawn by the brakes it fairly large, and a poor grounding situation could cause this exact issue. Try to start it without any heater, brake application, no radio on, etc and see if it makes any difference.

As for the CPS code, thats more than likely due to it cranking without enough power/cranking inconsistantly.

Do a little more diagnostic on it, such as trying the remote start with your foot on the brake and all lights, etc. on to see if it causes the same issue.

And have you done any grounds on the car? The max's have a lot of electronics and grounds do deteriorate faster than any other electrical connection.

I actually have a few electronics in the car, but I never ran any other grounds. I can't step on the brake and remote start, because that will shut the car off (safety feature).

It can be your switch as you said, but I think It also can be a bad grounding. I am more likely to say It's a bad Fuel pump regulator.

I don't think it the starter or a fuel pump because the car wouldn't start with the remote start...yes they do tap into you ignition when they do the alarm but not right at the switch ...they do it a lil further down on the line...I'm thinking it def has to do with the ignition switch itself....also the stepping on the brake issue that was brought up might also be that it putting a big drain...try starting it just turning the key see how that works..

My brother had the same problem on his 4th gen. It was the ignition, after installing a new ignition console the problem disappeared.
