Results of my free nissan inspection
I had Nissan inspect my Maxima this morning and they repaired the power steering leak under warranty but said my oil pressure switch was seeping oil. I have a Chiltons manual somewhere but I havn't seen it since Tuesday and I would like some more info on this. The guy said it would be about $65. Is this something I can do myself or is it best to let them handle this? Also, this was the first y-pipe they had ever seen which is sad because Birmingham isn't a small city. I also asked about the tranny flush service they do for $150 and asked if they could put synthetic in there. They said they could but then they couldn't warranty it. So in order to keep the warranty I have to use Nissan fluid. I have 51k on the car with the extended warranty to 60k so how much longer is my tranny under warranty anyway? Should I use synthetic or Nissan fluid? Thanks for any info.

Exactly right. And please tell me why Nissan didn't fix your oil pressure sending unit under warranty? Go back and make them fix that as well.
Your probably going to have to bring your own synthetic oil for them to use on your transmission. Your better off with the synthetic stuff anyway.
the oil pressure switch you can do yourself. the part is like $20. its not too hard to do. i just did it on mine right now. check out the maintenance sticky thread on this forum. it has the links regarding the OPS.

I took it back this afternoon thinking they overlooked my extended warranty and he said he would fix it. Then when he came back he said it was still under the factory warranty and he just forgot that part. I guess thats how Nissan dealers make a little extra money. Oh well, everything is fine now. Thanks.
