Rear Deck Removal Help

I need some help on getting this thing out. So far i've got the bottom and top seat pieces off, but im stuck at the part of taking off the trim that has the seat belt running through it. I can get unde the bottom part with a screw driver but if I pull it starts cracking, i already got a 1" crack along the bottom.

Any tips on getting this off, or any way of removing the rear deck without tampering with these?

Yes, those C-pillar trim pieces become really brittle from sun exposure.
No good way to remove without stressing them. I actually destroyed the ones in my I30 with the fuzzy coating, guess they're not quite as strong.

As to your question, it is indeed very difficult to remove the parcel shelf trim without removing at leat one side of the C pillar trim. Just pry back a little at a time and try to release each clip as you can get to them.

try to "pry" enough of the trim to get your hand behind it.. then push outwars.. at least this way, there will be no "pull" stress mark or the risk of snapping the plastic..
and yes, you have to push to the point it feels like you are about to break it, but at that point the clip will release and voila, C-pillar trim off!

the best thing you could do is go to a store and buy a interior clip screwdriver, this will be one of the best tools you ever buy, especially if you work on your car at all.
make sure you pry as close to the clip itself as possible as soon as you can tell where it is/where its holding.

i put my flat head screw driver right on the clip and pushed in towards the clip thus causing it to contract and letting go and it seemed to work real easy but that was the piece where the driver seat belt goes into. havent messed with the pillar but will have to cuz the real fill is shot and will be tossed.
