are maxima's not great in the cold weather?
the reason I ask is because when the sun is out and it's warm, it starts up everytime, but every morning when it's colder outside, i have to be real fast on the gas pedal to keep it running, as soon as it starts it dies, but if i'm quick on the gas pedal i can just rev it for a few seconds and it's fine, is this a common problem on maximas? It's not a huge deal, but is annoying

My Maxima does just fine in the cold weather. I lived in Flagstaff last winter, and I just gotten my car. I was afraid it wouldn't do well in the snow cuz it's a small car. But I came to find out it's a great little machine! I haven't had any problems that you mention. Is yours a manual?

Mines a good little car, I have that problem too. Try cleaning out ur TB and IACV, I believe it was those 2. I havent gotten around to doing those yet but I will soon

ANyway, Yeah I have problems in cold weather...mainly at start up...I have to rev and hold it for a minute before she gets normal. I think its more of an 00VI issue because it started after the swap. But I think If I cleaned my IACV it would clear up, Just havent had time.

Small? I always thought my car was huge and damn heavy!
OP: Cars never start as readily in cold weather as they do when its warm out.
It was around 0F here a few days ago and the max started just fine... took it 2-3 seconds, but I didnt need to give it any throttle.

Just change the fuel filter cause thats whats causing this, if you think a dirty tb or iacv will case this to happen in the winter, then why would it not let it happen in the summer
just throw a 300zx ff on her and she will be good to you again

Not to jack the thread, but my ? goes along with not wanting to start in the cold weather. I bought mine used, and it has a electric plug under the hood, Kinda like my diesal truck has....is this to heat it in the winter for an easier start up? does anyone else have this?

Mine also has trouble in the cold, new fuel/air filter, removed intake manifold and cleaned it, replaced IACV, replaced all coils, did fuel system leakdown test, replaced all plugs, replaced ignition switch, new battery, and it STILL has a miss at idle and I have to give it gas when it starts or it dies.

My car started off by doing that...i would have to stay on the gas pedal in cold weather. Eventually it has now turned into my car not starting good at all in all types of weather...mine was an early sign of fuel pump shietin the bed

wow after all that work u did and u still get that miss, i would take a Hammer to the max , i admire your patience though

I ran two cans of seafoam through it and it helped out quite a bit...I'm going to do a leakdown test on it soon to see what happens. I probably do need to change out my coolant, I'm gonna put a new thermostat and coolant sensor in soon so I'll do that...I change oil and filter every 3k :P Also the fuel pump has been replaced with a bosche not too long ago and gave slightly higher pressure readings than haynes suggested as the norm

Most of the work I've done has been a "just in case", the miss doesn't bother me that bad considering what she has/is went/going through
