Stillen High Flow Intake

http://www.greghome.com/Greg's%20Gar...0High-Flow.htm

this is the kind of intake I want for my maxima, but it looks pretty simple. Who else besides JWT makes this and has anyone made a good copy of it for sale? Seem like if your mechanical and know how to make that bracket, u could make one for a lot less than almost $200. Trying to find a stillen popcharger uses with all the parts, but most have missing parts. What do you guys recommend and yes i've read the FAQ. I heard there is a sound it makes at WOT, anyone got a clip of this sound from the popcharger?

Poorman's version - you should be able to bolt on a cone filter w/o buying any fancy adapter...

that's pretty cool except for the fact that the Air Temp sensor is crammed in the airbox with the filter, looks weird to me, hopefully i'll find something here pretty soon

Was looking at the Stillen doc, and didn't see where the air temp sensor fits for a 4th gen? Anyone has an idea?

I purchased my maxima off of an .org member and it seems like the setup is not correct as the air temp sensor is plugged into the PVC (or PCV?) and not in its correct place.

Anyone has an idea where the sensor is suppose to be placed?

Thanks in advance!

It's PCV.

The locations are different, 95-96 vs 97-99.

On a 97, if I remember correctly, the IAT(intake air temperature) is right after the MAF(mass air flow) sensor, positioned a little downward facing the firewall.

Thanks for the info.

I ended up calling Stillen and they mentioned that what they do is take a K&N filter and drill a hole in the head of the cone filter for the iat sensor. Seems fairly forward, wondering if I can just do it myself.

Here is the link to the other thread: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....stillen+filter

If you notice, they mention there being 2 different types of filters for 4th gen. One with the hole for sensor, and one without. Stillen drills the hole themselves.

What a waste of water.

Here we go with the intake threads, was nice not having them.

Just installed the Stillen intake on my '95 and highly recommend it. The instructions were excellent and the kit comes with everything you need. The IAT does attach to the front of the K&N filter which yields a very professional looking installation. The toughest part was getting the screws out of the IAT on the original airbox and I had to remove the brass spacer from the back of the IAT because the mounting holes were larger on the orig box than on the K&N, at least on my '95.

The sound under WOT is like a really deep growl that sounds marvelous! My mileage is going to go completely south cuz I'm always getting on it just to hear it. No, it's not the least expensive option out there but typically in life you get what you pay for.

I have had that exact same Stillen set up for a while, it makes a difference and very easy install, if you can change oil, you can hook it up. The sound is very aggressive and i have grown to love it when i step on the gas. Mileage stays the same unless you always stomp on the gas which might be hard not to do at first, and you gain some room from removing that big *** stock intake.

I have this exact kit. It is pretty good. After a while you will get tired of the sound it makes at WOT.

Stillen hi-flow intake sounds like s***. Injen sounds beast. Not to mention you gotta put an extension on your air temp sensor for it to reach the end of the cone filter on the Stillen hi-flow. Also, shorty intakes give you a CEL, Injen doesn't. Im saying this from experience.

Give you a CEL for...what? Do tell.

If you install it properly, you won't get a CEL.

I installed it properly, and got a CEL the second I reconnected my battery and turned the car on. When I got Injen the CEL went off in a week.

Once again, what was the code?

Don't go around saying 'an intake will give you a CEL' as if it's the truth. If you didn't pull the code, then you have no idea what was going on.

It was installer error, undoubtedly. If you got a CEL that quickly, then it was a hard fault; something wasn't plugged in, or something had failed.

I checked everything. And when I plugged in the computer I was getting a very high temperature from the air temp sensor, and it was affecting my acceleration.

Injen brought it back to normal, even though everyone hates Injen.

He got an IAT sensor code obv. Which doesn't really do anything performance wise too our cars. You just need too put the sensor into the snorkel. I kinda put it next too the intake and didn't code again.
