CEL on, if reset, is it possible to pass CA smog?

I have

1008 - EVAP canister purge volume control valve
0304 - Knock Sensor

if i reset the cel and take it for smog in california, assuming the lights don't come back on, is it possible to pass smog?

i am going to fix the codes, but i just dislocated my shoulder and have to go to smog soon!

thanks!

if it is a test that plugs into the ECU you wont pass. Resetting it will put the computer into learning mode. When they plug it up it will say "computer not ready".

if it a test based on what comes out of the tail pipe you may be ok. If you fix it, you have to reset and drive a certain pattern to have the computer ready.

You have to do a drive cycle after the ECU reset, I've been through this.

I don't remember the drive cycle exactly, but it's something like drive between 25 and 35 for 5 minutes without pressing on the brake, then do something else, then something else.

Hopefully you can find the actual cycle instructions someplace. Unfortunately, your CEL will probably light up while you are doing the cycle if you haven't fixed the problem.

you would def fail anyways,if this was the case, everyone would be passing the test by resetting making the light go off or "changing battery".

clearing the code is'nt gonna do anything, you have to fix the problem in order to turn off the light. those indicator lights are there for a reason. Whats gonna happen is this, your gonna have the code cleared drive home and then the cel is gonna come right back on.provided that you had the code cleared without fixing the problem. Your better off fixing the problem so you dont have to worry about it anymore.

drive cycle FTL. Just do a lot of stop/starts and constant highway driving(about 15min) and then stop/start and do another 15 min
