Changed plugs- Got a new car.
here is a quick summary.
Bought car at 35k with original plats installed.
Changed out to new set of plats at 37k (had somebody change them for me at that time)
Today I changed out my barley 50k old plats . THEY LOOKED HORRIBLE!!!!
My friend that put them in (I didnot know about cars at that time) never gapped any of them correctly. They were all over the place on the gapper!
I put in the coppers and gapped them all to .43-.44. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS THE SAME CAR! IT IS A FREIGHT TRAIN. tHE RESPONSE IS INSTANT NOW.
Before I would have to wonder if i would "make it" durring the merge. Now i KNOW I can make it. It's a great feeling. the car actually pushes me into the back of my seat.
I dunno if its because the plats were not gapped correctly or what made them not last so long. 50k and they were looking pretty shot, especially the rears. I dont think the plats would ever do 100k. My butt dyno is MORE than pleased.

yeah, I bought my set of plats at Arch auto in NY, and the guys actually didn't want to sell me the gapping tool with the plugs . They said it's too easy to cause damage to the plats while gapping them. I bought it anyway just to check the gap out of curiosity, but didn't even bother in the end.
Glad you were able to get it running well with such a simple maintenance job.!

I just bought a cefiro, and it has ngk plugs in there. the car run sluggishly so I pulled the plugs out and cleaned them(Im getting new ones soon, promise!) then gapped them, man what a difference, it looks like our cars are pretty sensitive on the spark plugs..

ya thats the platinum +4 right? Garbage plugs, would never recomend them to anybody! I wouldnt wish that horror on any innocent car.
Never had good luck with them in anything without a VW logo. NGK all the way. pulled my iridiums out of my old 3.0 the other day, 40k+ since I changed them, looked great still!

when ive changed plugs in my 96 and 97 and my dads 99, i used bosch plat's. never had an issue. i know the manual says not to gap, and i know the guys at AZ told me not to gap, but ive worked on enough motors to know that gap counts. i checked all 6 for each car and they were ALL OVER the place. always check the gap b4 install. . .

Why such the rip on Bosch ???? They are good plugs! I ran them in my 3rd gen and in my Stanza too .... and now in my 4th gen. I run the +4's and I don't know if that makes a difference vs the normal Plat plugs or not ... but I like em!

I am just reporting my experience with Bosch .They run great and have been in for 3 months,I know they say to use oe .Bosch says there better than oe and the way my 98 se runs since I put them in,I tend to believe them.
