ATTN: Anyone with Sprint Springs...Do I Need Camber Plates/Bolts?

Getting ready to lower my car soon with Sprint Springs. They are a 2" drop. Just wondering if you guys would recommend camber plates or bolts or can I do without them?

Thanks!

none needed.. there is enough play in the front struts to negate the offcamber.

What's up with that? It was just out enough to wear the tires on the inner edge. Sears put some camber bolts in I haven't noticed any wear on my new tires.

After you get the alignment checked/adjusted, if the camber is now out of spec and can't be jiggled around to get back into spec(no offical factory adjustments), you will either need camber bolts(for small adjustments) or camber plates for larger adjustments. Camber bolts only have maybe 1 deg total adjustment or something like that(ie.. -0.5 to +0.5)

I'm guessing by the replies that all cars are different. Some need 'em...some don't. I guess I'll find out whether or not I need them when I lower the car.

Thanks for the help!

There is never a "must" for anything! Do you really need to get alignment after the installation? You are not "required" to. It's recommended to get it because your alignment is out of wack.

Same thing with the camber bolts/plates. Do you really need it? Nope. Are you willing to spend the money later on a set of tire because of un-even wear, or are you willing to pay the money up front so that your tires can last you couple thousand extra miles? It's all up to YOU.

Just a personal note, if you compare the cost of camber bolts and the cost of tires, I would buy the camber bolts....

thats all true, but buying camber bolts implies that they are needed. if they arent needed, why get them?

I like your point, but now...

Buying 17 inch wheels implies that they are needed. If they aren't needed (who REALLY needs 17" wheels to get from point A to point B?), why get them?

Buying Sprint springs implies that they are needed. If they aren't needed (who REALLY needs to hug the ground when they drive?), why get them?

Getting the bolts/plates simply prolongs the life of your tires, and, for those perfectionists out there, that's doing it "right..."

Excellent points! I guess, because I am married, I don't quite think about the "female" factor!
