Broken Fan!

I changed my alternator belt and the oil pressure switch--easy. But then my Diet Coke stopped the fan from working. I explain:

My 20-oz bottle was balanced on top of the fan, and the hood--for some inexplicable reason--dropped and knocked the bottle into the engine area. It seems to have knocked the little plug/connection that was connected to the fan by a little plastic clip. Some of the Diet Coke spilled out onto the plugs.

Next thing I know, after driving away, my car is overheating and I notice that the fan simply doesn't ever turn on.

What happened? More importantly, how do I fix it?

Frustrating. Especially since I'd fixed everything that was wrong with it---only to have my vice--caffeinated soda--ruin my day.

Thoughts?

clean it down.clean off the plugs that have coke on em as good as you can. and wherever the bottle/can hit, just check that the connection is tight and secure. Clean out the spills though.

No; we checked all the fuses and relays and couldn't see that any were blown. What would I clean out the connections with?

you could use CRC Electric parts cleaner. stuff is amazing. leaves no residue at all, dries on contact and dissolves grease, dirt, grime etc. pull out and check your fan relays in the box near your battery. it's possible that the Diet () Coke may have caused a short and blown a relay. If you do find that a relay is bad, you can get them at Autozone or Napa, whatever you have in your area. Last summer, my car was overheating only when I had my A/C on. I found that the Rad Fan 1 relay was burned (actually started to melt ). I put in a new one and the problem was solved!
