Question about superguled tranny drain plug.
Question about superguled tranny drain plug.
So as some of you know nissan likes to make plastic drain plugs for the radiator and the MT tranny. Anyways, I was a dumbass and cracked the plastic on the tranny sensor/plug. However I was able to superglue it back together to make it new again. Currently I have no leaks, but my question is do you think the superglue bond will hold for another 60k? Its not really that much pressure on the bonds so I think it will be fine. But I just wanted a second opinion so I can sleep at night.
Funny, because the 5MT drain plug is not plastic. Nor is the 4AT. As a matter of fact, none of their transaxles/transmissions have plastic drain plugs.
The radiator headers are made of plastic, hence the plastic drain plug.
Fail.

1) You broke a sensor, not a drain plug. Drain plugs don't have wires coming from them.
2) Did it crack across the o-ring? If you just broke off the tab that it bolts with then put a big washer with the bolt to hold down the sensor and you should be ok. If the crack goes through any other part of the sensor you should buy a new one right away.

Can you show me a picture of the real drain plug for future reference? Or where it is located?
What bebe said (by the way bebe...your car is pure sex. I think it's my most favorite 4th gen of all time...even more favorite than KingRukus' if that's possible lol. You need a cardomain dedicated to that red beauty!).
The drainplug for a fact is metal, so you broke something else.

eh i think he is talking about the speed sensor(speedometer pinion) or the postion switch or the crankshaft sensor. Either which way the plug for the tranny is not plastic! i dont think you could torque it to 20lbs if it were. and also the drain plug i belive you can just use a 1\2 rachet with no socket on it. its either a 1\2 or 3\8. but its 4 sided

It's nice that you showed a picture of where the oil goes in. But that's not a drain plug.
If you go 180° around the tranny and toward the floor, you will find a bolt with 12mm head that goes into the tranny sideways. The bolt head faces the middle of the car. This is your drain plug.
