hey while this thread is up, about how much miles should we be getting for a full tank of gas on a daily driver status, not always city but not all highway. i get like 190 miles... and i dont think thats good. my code says the knock censor is not working either but i was told it wasnt that big of deal. as im reading this thread im starting get worried... so can some one tell me if my miles per tank is within range of average?

hey elgordito, I dont know about you but I have a 5 speed and I'm having a similar problem with my knock sensor and I think I read somewhere on here that once the knock sensor code comes up it can reset your ECU to run in a "safe" mode which seems to use a ton of fuel. When I kept the light on for a full tank I got about 220 miles and when I keep resetting the ecu it seems to run fine and I get a little over 300 miles per tank

no. i get 350+ in the city. "city" just means stoplights every 1/4 mile.

on a straight highway burn i can get close to 450.

yea youre knock sensor causes poor gas mileage because it retards ignition timing - so the normal driver compensates by opening up the throttle more. 190 for a tank in the city is horrible.

you should just spend the 120 bux to get a new knock sensor. it will have paid for itself in 6 months.

With an O2 sensor and knock sensor code, I'm getting 350. It will be nice once I finally get those replaced this weekend or next to see my milage go up. KS is a big deal because it puts your fuel map in a safe mode to prevent engine knock no matter what grade of gas you use. Definitely hurts fuel economy.

KS wont really hurt gas mileage as much as an O2 sensor, definitely, especially if you do a lot of city driving.

So, you are thinking of changing the KS again? Why not get a new one sent and tell them the current unit is faulty?

My KS and O2 need to be replaced as well but I can get 300 on a tank, all city. Do you drive around bouncing off the rev limiter or something lol

i had that same code but it wasnt for the knock sensor it means that you have a bad coil pack.
