Looking for a how too....

I swear it was on here, but not sure if i'm mixing it up with the shift boot changing thread.

I have an auto 97se. Is there a way of making the inside console look like it's a manual?

Yes there is. and its very simple also. this is what i have done to my car and there are still a few bugs that have to be worked out but nothing major, still a pretty decent modd.

go out and buy a automatic shift **** of your choice. for a cleaner look, get one without a button. but then again, get whatever suits your taste.

now remove the dash trim, the shifter and the gear display assembly, should be easy to remove, i just ripped mine out so i can tell u how to remove it without breaking it.

install the auto shift **** and test it out, make adjustments to make sure it works well, on my can i had to disconnect some cables that were safety related, so you dont shift when the car is off, when the breaks arent aplied or something like that, i just know i wasent shifting with it on so i removed it, my car is a 96 so urs might be diff if u have a 97-99.

now for that manual look, just install a shift boot and that my friend, is the tricky part. i have yet to figure out a good way to atach the boot to that trim piece so if anyone can shine a light here it would be helpfull. m3 tape might do it, i didnt try that yet tho.

if u really want to you can also install a switch for ur overdrive. i didnt cuz i dont use it.

the bad thing about this mod is that you have to memorize where the gears are for you no longer will have a gear display. P,R,N,D,2,1 from top to bottom. pretty self explanatory.

By 'gear assembly' you mean the shifter?

Those are for the overdrive switch. If your shifter doesn't have a button, you'll need to rig a button up (if you want to be able to turn OD off).

Black goes to ground, G/Y goes to the TCM.

Once you have removed the screws in the shifter handle, correct (IIRC).

No. Where can you get it done? Pay a shop, or do it yourself. For the boot, either make one or use a 5MT boot and trim, for the **** just google or eBay.

2. Because they like how it looks?
