the only thing i can think of would be the switch on the dome light. it must be set to the "off" position, otherwise it would go one when the unlock button is pushed or it would remain on all the time. Put the switch to the middle and it should do the trick.

Are you looking at the map light or the dome light. The one that turns on when you open your door is the one in the middle of your car, not the two in the front near the windshield.

That's the map light, only the dome light in the middle of roof will turn on when you open the door.

......Or sell your car and get a bicycle if you can't figure out how to operate a dome light

Did you even check to see if the bulb burnt out? Something more sophisticated than switching out a bulb should be done by someone who's know how to do it. I'm no electrician so that's my advice to you.

Noob....

Take your face...put it next to the dome light...and inspect.

OR

Take a flat head screw driver, carefully pry the plastic cover off the dome light, and pop the bulb out by pushing on the brackets (to the side - it'll slide out so to speak). If it looks bad, replace it. It is most likely a DE1725 (if I recall correctly) bulb.

i have the gle model too, if ur talking about the map light, it's not gonna go one with the push of any button on the remote. If the dome light isn't working, then either the switch isn't in the right position, it will not go on, or if the bulb or a fuse is blown, it will not go on. This is about all the work that can be done on our part, the rest is up to you.

i did open it up and there is only one bulb and that bulb works fine when i press the button its just that when i open the door or press the unlock button on the remote it does not turn on like it used to. The driver and passenger door lights do turn on though.
