Ebay cat?

Is this worth the money?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-99...hippingPayment

There really should be an ebay product section

Maybe if it fits, lol. I hear some people have had fitment issues with eBay cats/test pipes. Also, are you certain it is a functioning cat or is it really a resonated piece masquerading as a high flow cat? IMO, it looks like all the other resonated test pipes all over eBay and is definitely priced as such.

Yeah, looks like a resonated test pipe to me. If it fits, it might be decent. But, you won't pass emissions and you'll get a CEL without an o2simulator.

What he said... you will probably need an o2 sim to run that pipe w/o a CEL. But thats cheap.

You do not need an o2 simulator to run a test pipe, as I am successfully doing so as we speak.

Haha, I have no precats either, I am simulating those however My ECU is the only part of my car that is still a California Spec, I replaced the front exhaust manifold with one from a Fed spec and am running a 2.5" Fed spec y pipe with a test pipe, and an OE replica catback. I have no swirl valves either, my 00VI killed those

I love my '95; cat's been gutted for maybe 8k miles, downstream O2 hasn't caught on yet.

Car's purely for offroad use

I bought one of these from ebay when my cat broke up inside. The one I had was a straight through pipe. There was some ...meshy...wall running on the wall of some sort. Yeah it's not a real cat. Car was a smidget faster and sounded throatier though. *thumbs up*

An o2 sim constantly sends a singal to the ECU saying everythings A-OK, despite what the sensor may really think. You splice the wires from the o2 sim into those of the rear o2 sensor... i believe its 3 wires.
There was a website that sold them... but for the life of me I can't recall where I got it... anyone else remember it?

Well ur front o2's being simmed must have something to do with it, as not long after putting in a test pipe did I get codes from the rear o2. Put on a o2 sim and no codes for a good 20k miles now.

yeah I still don't know how he has no codes...either way, an o2sim is a simple solution. I got mine from o2simulator.com for like 25 bucks. Apparently now its 40 though.

The simulator needs power and ground, then splice the signal wire of the simulator to that which goes to the ECU. Make sure you leave the heater wire from the sensor hooked up, otherwise you'll get a CEL and a code for "rear oxygen sensor heater circuit malfunction" or something.

i just ordered one a few days ago. i heard the o2 sims dont work. and i have also heard that it usally wont turn on if youre lucky.

when it goes on, power loss?
what happens?
oh and how loud do you think my car will be with my evoII catback and straightpipe to the test pipe?
im kind of nervous but it does need to be louder just not ricey loud

I didnt mean to imply that I was simulating the two front ones... I am simulating the two downstream O2 sensors. I have no precats (fed spec manifold and y pipe) and since I am simulating the downstream O2 there is no code for the test pipe. I have no O2s after/part of my cat either since mine is a 97+.

Theres no power loss from an O2 simulator And go to the sticky for exhaust clips if you want to hear how it sounds.

No thanks. I'll pay 40 bucks for a stainless test pipe that flows better. Also, I will be able to take it off and on easily since it's not a rusty POS like the stock cat.

I dont know that it flows better, but you could just sand the flanges up and no problem. I thought it was fun gutting my cat and not having to pay any money at all for a test pipe that I had to wait to come and then have no hole for an o2 sensor like people were saying. Gutting the cat ftw.

If that's your preference, more power to you.

When I took my cat off only one nut came off. I had to cut three bolts. Then once the cat was off, I would have had to cut them even with the flange and then drill them out. Then there's gutting it...Then I'd have to go buy new hardware. The reason I said it would flow worse is because it's not straight thru like a test pipe...IMO it would create turbulence and slow the exhaust velocity. On top of that, the cheap test pipe is stainless.(keep in mind mine is from warpspeed, not ebay)

well worth the money, in my case at least.

You def. won't gain the 10-15 hp stated, shhh you won't even gain 1hp. Replace only if your current one is defective.
